
The area of Battle is wonderfully rich in history, plentiful with restaurants, and surrounded by woodland walks and stunning scenery. The 1066 Country Walk, which runs from Pevensey to Rye, passes through the centre of Battle.
The area is best known to many of course as the home of Battle Abbey. The Abbey was built by William the Conqueror to mark his success in the Battle of Hastings, 1066. Open all year, It also plays host to numerous events such as the Battle Proms and Battle Bonfire.
